Mission Statement The Southwest Council Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) represents 25 affiliated clubs and many individual members throughout the Southern California and Southern Nevada. The FFF is a world wide federation of clubs and individuals who wish to share their sport with others, and foster good sportsmanship, conservation and ethics. The Federation's mission is to protect all fish in all waters by conserving, restoring and educating through fly fishing.
President's Message
Michael Schweit Welcome to the Southwest Council web site. We represent 25 fly fishing clubs from Santa Barbara to San Diego to Las Vegas. One of the goals of the Southwest Council is to promote flyfishing through education, conservation and continuing programs. We strive to help all of your local clubs in their endeavor to provide a great fishing experience, whether on the stream, beach or lake, or in a club meeting listening to a lecturer talking about techniques or places. We assist the clubs with Trout in the Classroom, a program that allows students to understand stream biology through the use of aquariums and trout eggs that are hatched and raised to be released. This program gives students a wonderful opportunity to connect to the outside world, often about local areas that they may not have visited. We also support Project Healing Waters, a national venture that takes fly fishing to wounded veterans. This program works with local Veterans Affairs offices and hospitals to teach vets how to cast, make their own rods and flies and through local fishing clubs, to take them on streams and lakes. This nationally recognized program has given many of these veterans another view of what is available. Whether you are a Federation member or just viewing our site, consider joining a fly fishing club in your area. Clubs offer an opportunity to learn, share knowledge (and fishing fibs) and meet people with your same passion. Look on our club page for an organization near you and follow the link to their web site for more information. And please consider joining the Federation of Fly Fishers to help us continue in these efforts. Remember, no matter what, it IS all about fly fishing. Tight Lines, Michael Schweit
